Guess this thread is a lil dedication to cartoons propably long lost in the depth's of hollywood's cartoon studio vaults. Which is kind of a shame cus I watched this earlier today.
Knew about the guy who came up with the idea on DA long ago, but never knew he released the pilot, it's a real shame since I'd have LOVED to have seen a show like this then another series of spongebob : B

I nominate Felix the Cat! The reason we have cartoons that we know today!
Felix is awesome, yo!

Felix isn't currently popular..but I wouldn't call him overlooked either. (for a Felix-related thing, check out my blog later on or tomorrow~ hehehe...)
Didn't knew Moobeard! Awesome animation!
Want to see actually overlooked toons? Try Canadian/French/other european countries animated shows! The thing is, most of them were broadcasted in other countries (and even the US), but they just quickly disappeared and were forgotten.. (specially since they most of the times don't have the extra marketing stuff like toys/games/t-shirts/etc.. like the US cartoons)
Here's the intro to "Albert the 5th musketeer". I think it aired in english in other countries as well, but I couldn't find any videos of it :/ So, french singing it is:

the 5th Musketeer! I Loved to watch that when I was little at a certain age XD One of the rare cartoons that I loved to watch that was dubbed dutch. Saddens me I couldn't find the Dutch intro of it tho :C Spagheti-gun... yum? XD Still remember that malady with with duck on her shoulder to reconise her =P
Wasn't there another cartoon from the same creators..? Robinson Sucroe Cartoon? ( based on Crusoe yes XD ) That one was amusing but odd bits XD Robinson was a writer ending up on an island wanting to live there alone to be able to write.. but instead he ended up on an island with people who lived in a simple ( no elec. n stuff ) way. So he used them to write his story. Some other guy on a ship Every Single Time tries to prove Robinson wasn't alone on that island.. no idea Why tho XD; intro:

Here's one more-
Since Frob' brought up Felix to the table. I wouldn't say the character itself is overlooked, having had so many cartoons/episodes/series/and even movies. And appearing in as much artwork/merchandising as Mickey. (only, copyright-free since his on free domain now)
But here's a show not a lot of people might remember or know about. And strangely, one of my favorite wackiest toons ever, I put it up there alongside Looney Tunes/Tiny Toons/Animaniacs, but CRAZIER!
Twisted tales of Felix the Cat
my favorite part in this opening? The jumping laughing sausage~

I remember that Robinson Sucroe cartoon as a kid : D the only thing I remembered about it was the theme song though :B GOOD TIMES!!
And always felt bad for Felix for never having a real owner : (
Another overlooked short made by the creator of Courage The Cowardly Dog.. must have taken them months to write the script for this ;= B Love the music : D

What-A-Cartoon produced so many fun great quality concepts/cartoons It's a shame such big companies like Cartoon Network have given up on that because all the small timers had a chance to get their idea brought to life. Pretty sure CNKD and Grim and Evil started off as CARTOON CARTOON shorts : o

Actually they still do that sort of thing on CN and Nick. They produce 3 or so pilots, show them on the channel, start a vote for which show was liked the most, and the winner gets a series. It was how we got a show like Chowder on CN, but never got a Plastic Man either, for example.

Most of the good cartoons came around in the 80s/90s. I loved a lot of the What-A-Cartoon/ Cartoon Cartoon shorts, they were really entertaining
IMO, the cartoons they show today are, well, crap.
