Oh when people mention SCARY games they tend to think of Silent Hill or sometimes Resident Evil ( C'mon a game with Rocket Launchers scary!?) But when it comes down to knee shaking scary I have to nominate the Forbidden Siren and Clock Tower series. Forbidden Siren has done epic job of adapting the Japanese zombie horror genre into a game so wonderful, and my god it's just plain creepy. Sometimes you play as a character with a useless little pistol, others (and the worst) you play as a 10 year old girl hiding from zombies in cupboards and wardrobes. (though the dubbing was one of the worst pieces of audio I've ever heard!) As for Clock Tower well the later games in the series were just plain laughable but the original on the Snes and the sequel on the playstation scared the hell out of me as a teen, something about having a deformed child chasing after you with giant scissors always gives me the creeps :B (music from the games build a lot of tension also)

Hmm... well, I bought Resident Evil: Code Veronica for the Dreamcast some months ago, but I still haven't even tried out the game yet! I'm too scared to do so...

The original Clock Tower on the SNES really really gave me the creeps that when I played it, I was scared of it so much I never played it again, not because it was bad but because I felt like it took a few years off my life from just playing it for 10-15 minutes XD.
But one game I thought was really creepy but yet intriguing was the game known as I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream seriously the voice acting alone of AM (played by the original author of the novel) haunts my mind and whenever I think of a creepy computer next to HAL I say AM is more scarier, those who not played it or seen it I say check it out or play the game yourself, that game will always keep you guessing on your actions in such creepy settings in certain places. =D

Nah your not weird at all Sassi, since Doom didn't make me feel scared either, also there can be people who are not affected by atmosphere or anything like that ^^;

Ocarina of Time had moments that scare me, like the Redeads and the Forest and Shadow temples.
And although Resident Evil 4 had no Zombies it did have a lot of creepy farmers/monks/ regenerators.

Resident Evils aren't that scary! They're like zombie films! You're not the one supposed to get afraid! The characters are! That's why they're gory. Anyway, I sort of slept through 3/4 of RE 4... Sorry. The Spain backdrop, the farmers attacking us and the monochromatic colors didn't help It still was over-the-top as usual. (specially with the midget controlling the lil' village, Leon jumping through roofs, windows and 4 floors buildings..) but lost its campyness and George A Romero atmosphere...

Agreed on Eternal Darkness is definitely one of those atmospheric games that puts you on edge especially with the whole sanity concept. As for the Resident Evil series I personally only have 4 and 5 and I didn't feel scared by either of them unless you count the jump scares the lowest denominator of scaring the audience 0_o. Though my cousin played number 2 and I enjoyed watching him play it so I guess the Resident Evil games never scared me much ^^;. lukethef0x: Ocarina of Time was scary to you Luke? While I was playing it I never felt that way about it, I would have understood if you said Majora's Mask as that game is well known for creeping people out but I never saw anything scary in Ocarina personally that made me feel creeped out ^^;

well i was 14 when i first played ocarina of time and i was pretty much a wimp back then. Now I should have said Majoras Mask because i did find that scene when Link is chased by a giant deku scrub pretty disturbing as well as looking up in the sky and finding a moon with a terrifying face staring at you.

If you look up the definition of scary you see a picture of Pyramid-head right next to it. He's there one second then gone the next, he can kill you with one blow from his giant cleaver-like sword and face it, that one scene still creeps me out. My Nod is to Silent Hill 2.

Especially, the scenes with the Mask Salesman and the guy who was turned into a mummy.
