For those of you who know (which is like... very, very few of you), I own two fancy rats. And since I haven't been on in quite a long time (I've been busy ) I thought it wouldn't hurt to do a shout out of how proud I am right now.
When I first started out, I bought the $100 Rat Manor:
It's a pretty good sized cage. Perfect for two rats (by PetCo's standards) and pretty easy to clean. Two levels and two doors, making it easy to reach in there and take things out/put things in. I thought it was a little annoying how I had to find a litter box that was JUST the right size for the door, but it was okay. Over all, it's a pretty decent cage for beginners.
But THEN I got jealous of everyone on my rat forum. They all had Critter Nations and Martin Mansions and whatnot. I was trying to get a cheap version of one of these big, name-brand cages, but, of course, they don't exist in pet stores.
So I went straight to the top and got a Ferret Nation cage:
This cage is HUUUGGEEEE and I'm already madly in love with it. It has doors that swing ALL the way open, two levels, comes with adorable blue and purple ramp covers so the ratties don't hurt their feeties, and so much room that my little girls don't even know where to start! I haven't even finished decorating the bottom level yet and these two are having a blast! <3
I'll try to get actual pictures of my cage and rats soon, but since it's past midnight, this is all I have for now.
Heee, I might have to adopt another rat to make up for all the extra cage space. ^____^
