So at nearly five in the AM this morning, I was awoken by a furry little creature that decided she was bored and wanted to play. I'm talking about, of course, my rat. ;P It was a real surprise! XD
She's kind of small for her age, I suppose. My other rat, Motley, is a lot bigger than Ziggy. They both live in a big Ferret Nation cage and I guess the bar spacing was juuuuuuusssst wide enough for Ziggy to squeeze through. Now, she's escaped like this before but never randomly when I'm sleeping. And because she has done this before, I usually keep the door closed to the room I have them in.
But that didn't stop her! : D I guess Ziggy squeezed through the bars, squished herself under the door, waddled her little butt down the hall and into my room, conquered the mountain of stuffed animals and clothes that are scattered around my floor and hopped right up into bed with me. Funny thing was, it didn't scare me at all. When I had my cat, I was pretty used to animals jumping into bed with me.
What scared me the most was just HOW long she was wandering the house before she decided to come find me and tell me that she needed to go back into her cage. XD I picked her her up and put her back into her cage and she immediately went to her litterbox, used it, and then went to go eat some food.
Right now I have her in a smaller cage that I might keep her in at night and while I'm away at work/school. We do have a cat in the house, but she keeps pretty clear of my rats and is sort of afraid of them, but you never know. She might get a wild hair if Ziggy decides to go on another adventure and I personally don't want to clean up rat guts if my cat decides to have a quick meal. DX
Anyway, I guess I feel kind of flattered now that the concern has passed :B I'm so glad that she trusts me enough to come find me when she needs to.
Anyone else have their pets unexpectedly jump into bed with them like that? XD The only other time something like that happened, besides with my cat when I had him, was when we let our dogs stay inside for the night and my Aussie has to go to the bathroom. She comes into my room and nudges my hand until I wake up. : )
