Here you can discuss your early gaming experiences. Like when did you you start playing video games? What was your first console ect?? When I was a kid in the 90's I never played any of the popular video games that came out. I only had a old Amstrad Computer that ran huge floppy disks and I played this awesome platformer called Captain Comic. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmwwBUysDAIThen at xmas 1997 when i was 11 i recieved a TV boy, now what I didn't know at the time was that this had loads of Atari 2600 games on it. Then a year later when I turned 12 I got my first Nintendo Console, the Original Game boy with Super Mario Land & Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins so that was when I started playing Handheld games. Then the following September we had our first Windows PC 'Windows 98' XD, and the first game I played on that was 'Orly Drawn a Story'. Here you are given a story and you get to drawn in the characters, scenery ect.. as well as Encarta's Mindmaze.

My first video game was the original Super Mario bros. My siblings had it on an emulator for Win 95. As a joke (at the time), they decided to put the baby on the computer and see her play the game. I did pretty well for a 2 year old, and I still remember playing it. In terms of consoles, I grew up playing the NES and Sega Genesis. One of my favorite games on the NES was Mappy Land where you play as a mouse collecting items to get to the end of the level. You sorta play through his whole life, charming his girlfriend, getting married, having a kid, retiring, etc. Also played the Mario Bros series, Lode Runner, Legend of Zelda for NES, and then Sonic the Hedgehog, Ecco the Dolphin, and Eternal Champions for Genesis. I've gotten every major Nintendo console to date except for the SNES.

Oh, this is very vivid for me! I played games ever since I was like 2 (I was reaaaaally bad at them). Never had a lot of the best games known, but I played a good handful.
The first games I can recall playing were on the PC. One of them was a circus game, and the other was The Simpsons: Bart vs the World. Then one day, I won a Sega Master System as a cereal prize. And I got to play my first console game: The greatest Sega game of all: ALEX KIDD!!! Okay, so it wasn't Sonic, but I still have fond memories of the first level of Alex Kidd. Also owned a Donald Duck game on it, cos you know, Donald Duck's cool!
The next console I got to own was an NES. And how many awesome games did I own on it?!! One! ONE?! Well... was it a classic game? Probably not, but it's very nostalgic. And that game is: ROBOCOP! That theme song will never leave my head at all! I love to see the Angry Video Game Nerd tear it a new hole! Haha!
I'd mention more, but then they wouldn't really be the earliest games, now would they?

My first gaming experiences ... Tough to tell, I didn't have my own gaming system untill ... eh ... I don't even know when I got that... but definitelly WAY much later then "2 years old", that much I can tell. XD But before that, I played games at a friend's place very often; First he had a bunch of DOS games, like a "The lion king"-jump'n'run, and, eh, "DOOM". Pretty much of a jump ^^; And yeah, guess that game freaked me out back then, I remember being scared pixelly monsters might pop up in front of me during my way home XD Then he got a Sega Game Gear, and later a Super Nintendo ... I can't remember what games he had on the Game Gear, but for Super Nintendo, there I can name a few: Super Mario World, F-Zero (oh god! The music! The muuusic.... - I used to always sing along, even though there were no vocals in that song XD), ... and one game where the protagonist is made of wood and can throw his head and arms and stuff at his enemies.... but I got no clue what his name was Then in the year of 199X I finally got a Game Gear myself, but I never did the proper research on what games to get and which not, thus the whole thing died down rather quickly then - and about 1 year later, there suddenly were no new Game Gear games, so alas ... But I'm the kind of guy who never throws away / sells anything, so I still got my game gear plus most of my games: - "The Lion King" (a port to/from the DOS game) - "Garfield: Caught in the Act" (Plot: Garfield gets sucked into the TV, now go beat all these movie-themed levels. Don't remember if it was actually good or bad, but it was the only Game Gear game I actually managed to finish back then ) - "Mickey Mouse: Land of Illusions" - some Smurfs game that got lost over the years, but no big loss - "Crash Dummies" - One of the better ones. A fun game with nice music I have yet to find on youtube (or record off the Game Gear directly), wherein you complete various tasks with 'Crash Dummy' characters, which was a toy at the time, featuring cars, motorcycles and "crash test dummies"-action figures that would "explode" or "crash" when hitting a wall or something (the toys, not just in the game) - "Woody Pop" - A "breakout"-clone, but with lots of extra items, and "alternate pathways" to choose as you progress through the different levels the game has to offer. One of my favourite games if I remember correctly, but sadly, it got lost, and that's kinda a shame, I never made it to see what was at the end Also, in a glimpse of my future obsession with a talking blue hedgehog, I had "Sonic Tripple Trouble", "Tails' Aventure" and ... urg, "Sonic Labyrinth" Though the characters never left an impression on me at all - lol, not being quite as versatile in English back then (me are German), I never even thought about what a "hedgehog" was - the only thing that stayed was the tune from "Sunset Zone, Act 3"...and then it took several years, but on Decemeber 16th, 1997, ~5:30am (my 13th birthday) I got my Nintendo 64! Horray! First game was Mario Kart64, which I had beat by christmas - good thing it was christmas. So second game was Super Mario 64. And I guess listing the remaining 48 N64 games would be kinda stupid, so here's a list.

I'm pretty sure we had some handheld game, can't remember what it was called but we played it all the time, I was too young I can remember.
But shameless to say, we never played a Nintendo or anything lower than that, so we started off with the Mega Drive.
(needless to say, I could go on forever from back then, but I'd bore you all ^^; and I don't want that to happen)...
but yeah, started off with the Sega had the first Sonic with it, watched my brother play it for hours...straight away after a few minutes, I can still remember the first thing he said to me before getting off for a break, before leaving the room.

I'm not sure if he was made of wood, but Plok comes to mind...?
Anyway, I'll list my own first game experiences when I'm at home, rather then using my mobile internet from the bathroom at work, bwaha. XD

... that name sounds familiar - that could be it ... Yeah! Thanks Heh, lol. I don't remember that much of the game, but I do get the feeling this seems all vaguely familiar. Maybe the title (and the many rolling wooden obstacles) gave me the association he was made of wood) Lol at the plot ... no, Plok doesn't rescue princesses, he goes on a epic quest to search for a piece of cloth.

Okay, let's see... My first experience with a videogame console was with my friend Dennis' Colecovision... Think it was Donkey Kong he had on it. I believe I might've been... 5 or 6, maybe? Eventually when it was getting to be my 7th (I think, maybe 8th) birthday, my mom told me I could pick between the NES or the Master System as my birthday gift. Since all of my friends with game consoles around that time already had a NES, I figured I'd get a Sega so I could play something different. (Yes, I was already clever enough to reason "Eh, if I want to play Mario I can always go to Dennis' place" =P)
So then when mom bought it, she hid it in the top shelf of the closet, which curious little me always took a little look into from time to time, until I spotted an unfamiliar box at the top shelf - white, with a (for Master System enthusiasts) familiar gridline pattern... It was the Master System 2, with Alex Kidd built in the system (took a moment to figure that out), and Sonic as a loose, box-less cartridge packed in as well. I pretended not to see it, but then one evening, when I was in bed and I woke up hearing unfamiliar bleepy music, I ran out of bed and caught my mom trying out Sonic for herself to see what it was like.... and then she let me play it for a bit as well until going Game Over. Which happened way too quick in my opinion back then ^^; But yeah, it was... I think, like... a week or so until my birthday, and it neatly stayed in the closet until then =P
Anyway, the decision to get a Sega pretty much formed my childhood as far as "heroes" were concerned... while I didn't hate Mario per say, back then I just acted like it, joining in the rivalry because I thought it was fun XD One vivid memory I have from the school playground was silly childhood logic like wanting to be Sonic, acting like him, running and jumping around... and if another kid wanted to play along... he'd be "SONIC 2!" Y'know, as if the sequel's Sonic was a completely different one. XD
Anyway... Other games on it I eventually got were both of the Mickey Mouse "Illusion" games, Donald Duck's Lucky Dime Caper, Lemmings, New Zealand Story, Captain Silver, The Ninja, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (so crap nowadays but back then it was awesome ROFL), James Pond 2 (Robocod), Bart Simpson vs the Space Mutants, and of course, Fantasy Zone. Man, I played that thing to death back then.
....But uhm, yeah, I ramble. XD

My first gaming experience was with the PlayStation and the game known as Spyro the Dragon, I remember how Spyro could be both fun and challenging at the same time, which are always the two things I look for in a video game, I remember flaming Norc butt and charging into sheep just for the fun of it.
Shortly after that, I had received my PS on Christmas, I received a game-boy for my birthday and the first game I ever got for it was Pokemon Blue, I remembered how I only trained my Squirtle from the get go and by the time I faced the Elite Four it was already at least level 75. Those were good times.

Whoo! *Hi-Fives Frobman* =D
Never played Spyro much, to be honest. But then, I never owned a Playstation, and my friends that did have one never bought a Spyro game so I couldn't play it at them either.
Oh yeah, my second system was a Sega Megadrive, of course - I could pick between either Sonic 3 packed in, or Sonic 2 and one other game. I went with the latter - for one, because I had a cheatbook with Megadrive cheats even before I had the MD itself, and it listed the Super Sonic (or as they called it, "Golden Sonic") code for Sonic 2, which I REALLY wanted to try out because it looked cool on the screenshot =P And for two, because hey, extra game. "That's good!" The extra game was The Pagemaster. "That's bad..." But my mom bought one more game to go with it, Virtua Racing! "That's good!" That was about the last game I got for a while. "That's bad." But I got to borrow Phantasy Star 2 from a friend! "That's good!" Which led me to rent Phantasy Star 3 along the line. "..." That's bad.
(My apologuies for the preceding Simpsons reference, it just got in my head when I started listing some good and bad things in sequence. XD)

The earliest gaming i remember is watching my brother play Megaman X on the Super nintendo, and also sometimes my cousin playing Yoshi's Island (which is to this day one of my most favourite games).
I only remember actually playing the N64, so mario kart, super mario 64 and super smash bros would have been my first games. Yoshi story was the first game i was able to complete by myself (easy game anyway). Then I got my first gameboy and a copy of pokemon yellow. 83 Then i got hooked.

My first video game was Pokemon Emerald forthe GBA. I got it when I was 6 years old. At the first time I played this game I actually used the masterball at Relicanth (FAIL).
Then came Digimon Racing (I think) when I was 7. I failed at this game bt its easy to unlock everthing. I did that last month.
Then I got Toca for the PS1 and an another racing game for the same consol. And I didn't like these games. Back then I didn't like every (except SM64) 3D game.
And I really love the older games from nes and snes. But I just got the SSBB demos of them but the 40 seconds F-Zero were just...wow. That you don't hear often from a 13 year old kid.
