Proffessor Layton has sold more games worldwide than Ace Attorney, 9.5 million for it's 3 games to Ace Attorney's 5 games only selling 3.9 million.

Correct! I just checked it out~ But Layton has more games, meaning fans buying more sequels. Anyway, from where I'm standing, it really looks like in French speaking countries people only know the name of Ace Attorney over Prof. Layton (and the rest of the world probably too...that OBJECTION!! meme really help it up)

One) calm down! It's not like we're talkin' a very serious matter anyway. Two) hey! I just gave you a Karma point, man! I'm on your side! Three) 5 games for Layton, a bunch of spinoff stuff (even a darn' movie!) Ace Attorney: 4 main games, some spinoffs too but no movie.
Anyway, I recognise Layton got the number of copies and so, the money. But Ace Attorney clearly got a big rep' thanks to its manga aspect, internet rep' and clearly big name recognition. Then, it's just a matter of having the more products available and faithful fanbase.
Why are we discussing this anyway?

Even if AA had only 3 games and PL had 4, or 5 doesn't matter, on average Professor Layton still sells more on average, it would be 1.3 for Ace Attorney, 2.375 or 1.9 million copies per each game.

I found this user-translation on kotaku, of course I got no clue how (or if at all) accurate it is.

Do those Ace Attorney sales figures include the original GBA versions?

Do those Ace Attorney sales figures include the original GBA versions? From Wikipedia: As of December 2009, Capcom has stated that the series, spanning 13 games, has sold more than 3.8 million units worldwide, and is currently their 9th best selling series of all time. So yes H.

Obviously, Layton is bought by both nerds and the general public, people who just like brain age and that sorta stuff. While Phoenix Wright is only for nerds, most mothers and oher non-gamers don't like sitting trough a huge story and prefer Layton's cute little puzzles.
Makes me wonder if the non-gamer part of Layton's fanbase will bother with this crossover...
