layton-vs-gyakuten.jp/Now here's a Capcom Crossover I didn't expect to see (even after all of the Marvel/SNK/Tatsunoko/Konami/Bandai Namco ones). Groovy news, I gotta say!

Hah, same here. I've seen it played but never tried one myself 'cause I usually find the kind of puzzles that appear in Layton kind of annoying. But weh, who knows, it might surprise me...

This pairing actually seems very apropriate, two intelligent guys working together to (said in an anouncer's kind of voice) SOLVE THE GREATEST CASE OF ALL TIME!!!

Ah, while I would vote for Phoenix Wright because...
Wait, this isn't a forum poll thingy? It's an actual game? Woa , insane!
But isn't Layton set in mid 20th century England and Phoenix Wright in 50 years in future Japan (or Los angelos thanks to our friendly "Arggh, if it's not set in America our audience minds will explode" translators.)
Then again, Layton does have some time machine stuff going on..
Anyway, sweet. The 3ds has an insane amount of awesome games already. Thank goodness it's Capcom doing it. If any other company did the cross-over it'd be Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton play golf or something.

Will this game be more like Layton ( loads of annoying hard to break puzzles ) more like Ace Attorney ( looking for clues and stuff ) or a combination of looking for clues/solving puzzles and using them in to find out who's guilty or not?

No confirmation on the type of game yet. That, and it's apparently going to be Japan-exclusive, unless we let Capcom know otherwise. (It's how we got an international version of Tatsunoko vs Capcom, for one)

when i watched it i was pretty amazed. A detective/puzzle solver and a lawyer teaming up. Its like something out of fanfiction.net or something. Although I would like to see Layton and Holmes teaming up in a H.G Wells story. I wonder how Wright got in that weird fantasy world?

; yeah... I did not see this crossover coming indeed. Japan-exclusive? Well, that would kinda suck, as even though I've only watched a walkthrough of one Phoenix Wright game, and never played Layton, I'd totally wanna buy that game. Seeing the trailer actually makes me wanna take an insite into the Layton story... off to another youtube video walkthrough it is for me then! ^^;
